Jacky Gets A Bed
Jacky got a bed and an entertainment center from Craigslist and needed it moved to her place so she called MOVE IT! by bike. She recruited her room mate to help with the move and cut her labor cost in half. Jacky also took several of the pictures.
We Cheated
At the request of our client we enlisted the help of a pick up truck to haul most of our client's items from the 1000 block of Washington Street to the 2600 block of Marias Street a 4.8 mile trip. Just one piece of furniture did not fit into the truck so we MOVED IT! by bike.
Magazine to Murat
MOVE IT! by bike transported several boxes, a couple of trunks, a dresser, a book shelf and several musical instruments from the 2100 block of Magazine Street to the 600 block of North Murat Street. Our client lived in a second story apartment connected to the ground floor via beautiful winding stairs. This move took two trips, at 5.1 miles one way, and took 5 hours. Hunter and Stevie were the movers.
Costco Couch to the Quarter
Greg got a great deal on a leather couch at Costco and called upon MOVE IT! by bike to bring it to his French Quarter apartment. The challenge was to move the couch up some narrow and twisted stairs to his second story apartment but Greg and Tim got it up there. Greg cut his labor cost in half by participating in the move.
We Got Blogged
Bikes At Work, the people who made our trailer, posted MOVE IT! by bike on their blog. Check it out http://bikesatwork.com/blog/move-it-by-bike-moving-service
MOVE IT! by bike, Moved Bikes
Delivered two bikes to a storage unit. Took a picture at the AllWays Lounge and the Shadow Box Theatre along the way.
Tubs on the Move
Delivered 5 tubs to a client so he can pack for his move later this week. Delivered them just with a bike but next time I think I will use a trailer. My bike is decked out for Mardi Gras : )
Bed Set Against It
MOVE IT! by bike moved a solid wooden bed frame and two night stands from the 300 block of Bellaire Dr. to the 1000 block of Jackson Ave., a journey of 5.6 miles.
Couch, Kitchen Island and Chair To Go, Please
MOVE IT! by bike worked with Robert to move a couch, a kitchen island and a chair from the 2300 block of Laurel St. to the 1900 block of Esplanade. Only Tim was needed because Robert did some of the heavy lifting.
Final Move In
MOVE IT! by bike took two loads for a house move from the 2100 block of Pauger to the 1600 block of St. Phillip. We only brought out our camera for one of the loads unfortunately.
Doubling Up
Yesterday (2-8) MOVE IT! by bike worked two moving jobs. One an unloading job in Hanrahan. The other transporting an Elliptical exersize machine in Algiers. Our client picked up our crew of Chris and Hunter to transport them to the job in Hanrahan and back avoiding a bike ride that would take over an hour. It did not take them long to do the job and soon Chris and Hunter were back in New Orleans enjoying the nice weather.
Tim, John and Paul had an 8 mile bike ride pulling our trailer to the pick up location in Algiers. Algiers is on the other side of the Mississippi from where we are. Problem is no bridges are safe for bicycles to cross them and I think they are not allowed to. The ferry that transports cars across is no longer in service but a ship does provide service for pedistrians and cyclists. Problem is we also have a trailer. So in order to get to the other side we unhitched the trailer and carried it aboard the ferry. On the other side we carried the trailer off, hitched it back on the bike and off we went to the pick up location about 7 miles distant.
But the hard part was not the getting there. As always, the hard part was getting the elliptical machine from its second story location onto the trailer and then from the trailer to its new home through a narrow L shaped doorway. But we did it.
All of these adventures and we only took one picture.
Indiegogo Campaign for a Second Trailer
MOVE IT! by bike has launched a crowd funding campaign to add a second trailer to our fleet. We usually have two people working each move but since we have only one trailer the second person goes to the move in location empty. A second trailer will allow us to carry two loads in one trip cutting the trips we need to make and the total time moving in half. If you wish to contribute here is the link:

If money is short (like for us) but you wish to help, spread the word by posting the link on your page.
Mattress to the Marigny

Truckin' Trunks
MOVE IT! by bike transported three trunks and two jugs of water for Twila from the 2000 block of Pauger to the 1600 block of St. Phillip.

Grassroots Motorsports?
Someone posted us on a forum in Grassroots Motorsports. I don't know why.
and ACTION!
Hunter and Kyle moved some furniture and other things for movie director Glen Pitre. Mr. Pitre scripted and directed the move. Tim was behind the camera.
A Queen in the Quarter
Tom and Kyle moved a queen sized mattress set from the 500 block of Esplanade to a second story apartment in the 1000 block of Conti. This move took less than an hour.
Sofa-Sleeper on the Job
Tom and Stevie moved a sofa-sleeper, dresser and a futon from the 8000 block of Sycamore to the 1500 block of N. Prieur. At a distance of 6 miles, this was one of our longest moves but miles don't upset us. The tough part was bringing it all out of a second story apartment down narrow and twisted stairs.
We Have A Logo
MOVE IT! by bike's logo was created by Sameer Gurav. He is very talented and great to work with. You can see his other creations here http://www.sameergurav.com/
