Our client was moving but not very far away, just around the block, so MOVE IT! by bike was called to move a two bedroom apartment worth of furniture. Our client hired two movers but we brought three trailers anyway and Tim only pulled the third trailer while the other movers moved the furniture and loaded and unloaded the trailers. The moving out location had a unique feature; a large window at the landing of the stairs so large furniture did no have to make the many turns out the door. It took two trips to move all the furniture and boxes and the total time of the move was 2 hours and 15 minutes. Our client was billed $180.00.

MOVE IT! by bike was hired to move a dresser purchased at Discoveries on Magazine Street. The client was going out of town and wanted it done the next day but we were booked for a job that day and could not do it. So it was agreed to deliver the dresser on Sunday, November 27 and arrive at the store at 1:30PM. This would mean missing the Saints game but clients come first at MOVE IT! by bike. Upon arriving at Discoveries it was discovered that the dresser was already delivered. After calling the client to confirm she apologized and confessed to hiring another to deliver the dresser but not informing me. So missed the Saints game and said no to other jobs because I was not informed of the change in plan. I can see why other movers charge a deposit in advance but fortunately this is a very rare occurrence and we at MOVE IT! by bike do not see the need .........yet.
Eva lived in Metairie and was moving to New Orleans and hired MOVE IT! by bike to move her things to her new place. We arrived at 8AM on a cool crisp and windy morning and moved her things from her second story apartment to our trailers and some things to her car. The 3.4 mile move went without any troubles for traffic was light. We then unloaded our trailers and her car and moved everything up to her second story loft. The move took 2 hours.
MOVE IT! by bike was hired a third time by a client to move in some furniture recently purchased at an outlet store. Their apartment was in the CBD and on the top floor of their building. Fortunately an elevator was employed for this move. Unfortunately the elevator was small and many pieces had to be stood on end and some at an angle from lower corner to opposite higher corner to fit into it. Also the building made moving in more difficult by bolting one double door shut forcing us to take large pieces off of furniture dollies and work them through by lifting and angeling them through. Despite these challenges the truck load of furniture took only 1 hour and 15 minutes to move in.
MOVE IT! by bike was asked to unload a truck for a client that was moving back to the area he grew up in. So in two hours the furniture was placed where it might remain and boxes placed in the rooms where their contents most likely will be placed.
They say the shortest route between two points is a straight line and that route was straightest through Audubon Park. And so some people were surprised by a 7 foot tall armoire traveling the bicycle path on a trailer pulled by a bicycle. After protecting the armoire in moving blankets the large piece of solid wood furniture was removed from it's former place loaded on one of our trailers then gently transported to it's new home via Audubon Park then unloaded and installed in its new home. All this took two movers 1 hour and 45 minutes.

MOVE IT! by bike was called by three different clients to move sofa sleepers, Two moves were in one day the other the next. Everyone is getting ready for guests for the holidays.
MOVE IT! by bike was hired to unload a rental truck for a client moving to New Orleans from Alabama. But on the day and time we booked it rained and rained hard. So we decided to try the next day. On the next day it was still raining but Weather Underground indicated the rain would end around 9:00AM so it was decided to do the job then. Sure enough the rain ended and at one point the sun shone brightly as we unloaded the truck. It took two people 1 hour and 45 minutes to bring everything in where the client wanted, into a two story house.
Our client had a problem and MOVE IT! by bike solved it. The problem was a bed, a dresser, and a desk, needed to be moved up to the loft of the apartment but would not fit up the spiral staircase. The solution was four movers with ropes to hoist the items up and over the railing of the loft. First protecting the items with moving blankets a rope was wrapped around the item like parcel. Then other ropes were attached to these ropes to be used to pull the items up. Then two more ropes were tied on to hold the item away from the wall and keep the item from twisting. Two movers stood up on the loft to lift up the items and two more stood below guiding the item with ropes from the ground. Being very careful to keep all the items away from the wall so nothing was damaged the items were hoisted one by one up and over and onto the loft. The furniture that we moved to clear our work area was moved back into place and our ropes and blankets packed onto our trailer. This work took one hour and a half.
MOVE IT by bike was hired to move a few things that would not fit in the client's car. Those things were a Queen bed, a dresser and an end table. We got to the location early and went straight to work protecting the items with tarps and blankets and then moving them out onto our trailers. During the move our client was told that the previous tenant was not moved out yet and would not be that day. So it was decided not to move the boxes via car as planned and only move the large furniture with our trailers. We were going to help load and unload the car. We also added the client's bicycle to our load. So we secured everything on the trailers and set off from Mid City to the Lower Garden District. Once at the new location, we unloaded everything and placed things so the former tenant could remove their things from the second floor apartment. All this took two hours.

MOVE IT! by bike was asked to assemble a king sized bed and so we did. First we removed the old bed from the room and then laid out furniture blankets on the floor so as to not mar the floor or the new bed. This bed was not typical of other beds but the directions were clear enough to get the job done. Yes we do read directions. After assembling the bed we removed all the packaging. The whole job took one hour and thirty minutes.
MOVE IT! by bike was called by the people running Caroline Fayard's US Senate campaign to place a few political signs on one of our trailers and circle City Hall during early voting on Saturday October 29. Using zip ties, four large signs were placed on one of our trailers and from 10AM to 3PM we circled the block that City Hall is on. We also took a trip into the CBD and the French Quarter. The signs got noticed especially when the trumpet player from a second line band boarded the trailer and blasted out tunes while riding once around the block.
A recent client called on MOVE IT! by bike again to remove some furniture from his former home that he had left behind to sell. Not having the time to do so he asked us to remove an ottoman, a four drawer file cabinet and a futon bed. We were asked to be at the location at 8:00am but arrived early when we were told that our client needed to get to his office on time and not come an hour late as he had planned. Our movers got everything out in a bit less than 20 minutes but our client payed for a full hour and gave our movers a nice tip.

Moving only a couple of blocks seems easy but doing so in the CBD makes it not so easy. MOVE IT! by bike was asked to move a king sized bed with frame along with an 8 drawer dresser from the 200 Carondelet Building to 925 Common. Our client had planned to have the bed disassembled but something happened to those plans and we were asked to disassemble and reassemble the bed. We had to work around our client's work schedule so the move was scheduled to start at 4:30PM. Yes during rush hour. We arrived at 4:15 and got started early. We parked our two trailers on the side walk next to the curb out of the way of pedestrians and not taking up any parking spots. Furniture dollies and carts were employed to bring everything down from the 22nd floor and loaded onto the trailers.
At the 925 Common location we were able to unload inside the parking deck. We were told that the freight elevator was not working and so used the people elevators. It was not until our last load the we were told by another person that the freight elevator was working and so used it to haul up the large and heavy dresser. The whole process took 3 hours and 15 minutes.

MOVE IT! by bike got a phone call from a client who's friend had dropped out of a promise to help move a few pieces of furniture to be picked up from two different locations and delivered to one. She had already lined up a U-Haul to do the move and just needed a mover to replace her friend. MOVE IT! by bike called on our most experienced mover and equipped with some moving devices to make the job easier, waited at our warehouse for the client to arrive from the U-Haul place just down the street. And he waited and he waited and he waited. A phone call confirmed the the client needed a mover and that they were just down the street and would be at our location very soon. So we waited and waited and waited and waited and called again. No answer. So we waited a half hour more, called again, and again got no answer. So we put our moving equipment away and sent our mover home.
Our client had recently purchased a house in Mid-City and wanted to move from his 4th floor apartment in the French Quarter. Trouble was the move would be on a late Friday evening just off of a busy part of Bourbon Street. But MOVE IT! by bike is perfect for this situation because we do not need a hard to find parking spot and will not totally block the sidewalk so pedestrians may walk by. We used all three of our trailers on this move and moved a couch, 2 queen sized beds, 3 bicycles, some tables and benches and a stand for an electric piano as well as a few tubs containing clothes and other things. We also helped the client load his mid-sized car to move his art and some boxes. It took some time to walk everything down the four stories of winding stairs but got everything loaded and transported and moved into our clients new place in four and a half hours.

MOVE IT! by bike was hired to Remove a sofa sleeper from a French Quarter apartment. The client just wanted to get rid of it so we decided to take it to Goodwill and donate it. The legs were removed by the client before we got there and a railing in the stair way was easily removed to make it a straight shot to the outside door. The mattress was removed, the metal fold out bed was secured so it would not fold out during the move and the bottom of the couch was covered with furniture blankets so the metal parts would not scratch anything. The couch was moved out of the apartment and loaded on the trailer along with the mattress and transported to Goodwill on Tulane. Later we saw the couch on the sales floor selling for $99.99 but without the mattress. Removing the sofa sleeper took only 20 minutes but the client kindly paid for a full hour and tipped our movers as well.

MOVE IT! by bike was entrusted to move into the new Veterans Administration Hospital, X-ray equipment worth $630,000,000. All we had to do was uncrate the equipment and then move it in to the X-ray room for the people installing the machine. The driver of the truck who delivered the equipment was the foreman of the operation and showed us what to do and oversaw everything we did. First we laid down masonite sheets on the floor to protect the brand new finished floor from the outside door all the way to and inside the room where the equipment was installed. With the help of a forklift operator the crates were unloaded off the truck and set near the door. The driver of the truck then told us what to uncrate and deliver first. We had to bring everything in as they were to be installed as there was no room to put things in the X-ray room other than what part was being installed at that moment. Most of the pieces were heavy and bulky but with the use of a pallet jack and furniture dollies we got everything safely inside and sometimes were called upon to help the installers put things in place. This was an all day task lasting twelve hours and forty five minutes.

Our client wanted to do some furniture rearranging. Trouble was it involved some large furnishings and stairs so he called MOVE IT! by bike to lend a hand. First project was to reroute the wires leading to a flat screen TV. Our movers helped take the TV off the mount and place it in a safe place and then helped coax the wires up inside the wall and come out behind where the TV would be. Next was to plug in the wires and remount the TV. As our movers held the TV near where it was to be mounted, our client plugged everything in and then the TV was mounted back on the wall. After that several pieces of furniture were moved around including one couch from upstairs to down and another from downstairs to up. Our fast working moves did all this in 20 minutes but our client paid us for a full hour and gave a nice tip to our movers as well.
MOVE IT! by bike was hired to move a few pieces of furniture just a couple of doors down that the client could not move themselves. The old apartment was on the firs floor and the new on the second. The stairs up to the new place were straight and not so narrow so the couch and love seat easily fit through with the legs removed. Our movers finished what the client wanted to move in 45 minutes but our client asked our moves to move a few more items to fill in a full hour. I nice tip was also included to our movers for a job well done.
